Job Description
Position: Part time (20 hours/week)
Schedule: Flexible, requires one afternoon/evening a month in person
Reports to: Epworth Leadership Council
Salary: $20/hour

Epworth United Methodist Church (UMC) is a reconciling church located in southeast Portland. Position Summary
The Youth and Family Outreach Coordinator is responsible for designing, organizing, and implementing the new Inside/Outside youth and family program at Epworth. The Inside/Outside program seeks to engage youth and families in the Portland area, build connections between Epworth and other faith or community groups, and increase the visibility of Epworth in the Portland community.
In consultation with the Epworth Leadership Council and working closely with Rev. Melissa Harkness and the Inside/Outside steering committee, the Outreach Coordinator will develop monthly outreach activities and build connections between Epworth and other community partners.
This is currently a one-year position, with the possibility for extension based on funding.
Responsibilities
The Outreach Coordinator’s core responsibilities include:
Outreach Event Planning (90%)
Planning and running monthly outreach activities that speak to Epworth’s mission of service and community engagement
Liaising with local communities and organizations to build partnerships and positive relationships
Advertising the Inside/Outside program to the wider Portland community, including use of email and social media and ticketing services such as Eventbrite.
Program Administration (10%):
Collecting and maintaining contact information of program attendees
Reporting on program activities to Rev. Melissa Harkness and the Epworth Leadership Council
Adhering to all safe conduct policies established by the congregation’s leadership
Qualifications
Required:
Experience in project management, volunteer coordination, or event planning
Experience working with youth and families
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion
Must be 21 years and older to meet Safe Sanctuary policies
Preferred:
A background in education or youth work
Confidence using email and social medias marketing and communication tools
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Google Drive applications
